The Stubborn Fool Adventure Race, presented by 180 Adventure, returns for its 12th year of maps, mud, and mayhem in the heart of Black River Country!
Whether this is your first adventure race or your 101st, this spring classic is your chance to test your grit, navigation skills, and teamwork in a choose-your-own-adventure challenge through the beautiful forests surrounding Black River Falls, Wisconsin.
How Far Will You Go?
That’s entirely up to you! Your total distance depends on your team’s route and how many checkpoints you decide to chase down. Stick to the shorter end and you’ll roll in as a final finisher—push your limits and you might just snag every checkpoint on the map.
Bike: 12–35 miles
Trek: 1–10 miles
Where Will You Go?
That’s part of the fun! The super-secret start location will be revealed one week before race day, but you can count on it being within 30 minutes of Black River Falls, Wisconsin. Pack your compass, bring your sense of humor, and prepare to embrace your inner Fool—because no two teams will take the same path!
What to Expect
Expect the unexpected! You and your teammates will:
- Navigate with a map and compass—no GPS allowed!
- Choose your own route between hidden checkpoints.
- Bike, trek, and problem-solve your way across varied terrain—forest trails, gravel roads, and maybe a surprise or two.
- Laugh (a lot), get a little dirty, and finish with that stubborn grin that says, “We did it!”
- This event is beginner-friendly yet challenging enough for experienced racers, making it the perfect kickoff to the 2026 adventure racing season
What You’ll Need
- A bike and helmet
- A compass and basic navigation skills (we’ll have a short clinic the night before if you need a little help)
- A teammate, or two, or better yet – three—racing solo is possible, but fools travel best together
- A sense of adventure, flexibility, and good humor
- Full gear list and race-day instructions will be shared closer to the race day
