PWCG is hosting another holiday hike – this time for Presidents Day on Monday, February 16th!
Join us for a refreshing group hike this Presidents Day 2026! Celebrate the long weekend by exploring scenic trails, enjoying the last of the crisp winter air as spring approaches and connecting with fellow outdoor enthusiasts!
No experience necessary – this hike is perfect for all skill levels. Just bring your appetite for adventure (and maybe some snacks for the hike *and* after).

Presidents Day, Monday, February 16th – 10 am
De Soto National Forest – Black Creek Wilderness
Black Creek Wilderness – Hwy. 29
Approximately 4 miles (out-and-back)
2.0 – 3.0 hours
Largest wilderness area in the state – hardwood floodplain filled with oxbow lakes and dense stands of sweet gum, sweet bay, red maple, oak, pine and bald cypress. We'll hop off-trail for a bit to explore the beautiful Beaverdam Creek!
Recommended supplies – comfortable shoes, water, lunch, snacks, trekking poles, natural bug repellant, hat, cool wicking clothes with warm layers depending on weather.
