The Hatteras Island Cancer Foundation, an all-volunteer non-profit organization, supports cancer patients and their families living on Hatteras Island. Founded in December 2000, the group’s primary goal is to raise funds to offer financial support for patients, helping them pay for medical costs not reimbursed by insurance and travel expenses for themselves and their caregivers to medical centers for cancer treatment.
This year, we are running in honor of our dear friend and former board member Donna Peele, who lost her battle with cancer on Oct. 14, 2023
The cost for the 5k is $25 for preregistration and $30 the day of the race. Kids 12 and under are $15. Kids in strollers are free. Runners, walkers, bikers, and strollers are ALL welcome. This is a timed event, so walkers, and strollers are asked to start at the back of the pack.
