Join the American Psychiatric Association (APA) and the APA Foundation (APAF) for the MOORE Equity in Mental Health 5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk & Roll
Run, walk, and roll to support organizations that promote awareness programs and provide services to improve the mental health of young people of color.

In-Person 5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk & Roll 
The event will be held rain or shine unless the weather conditions are unsafe (ex. lightning).
Location: Freedom Plaza, Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington DC
Date: Saturday, July 11, 2026
Check-in: Starts at 7:00 am. Arrival prior to 7:45 am required to participate in race. 
Awards and Prizes: At approximately 9:45 am, awards will be presented to the in-person 5K Runners who come in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers across divisions. Random drawing winners will be announced following the awards ceremony.
 
Remote 5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk & Roll
Monitor the weather conditions in your area and put safety first.
Location: Your home community. Join your team's local event or participate on your own schedule throughout the day.

Schedule of Events

Public transportation is highly encouraged such as the Metrorail and Metrobus as street parking near Freedom Plaza might be limited.

Registration and Packet Pickup opens at 7:00 am to collect your bib and enter into the random prize drawing.

Arrival prior to 7:45 am is required to ensure your participation in the race. 

Brief speaking program begins at 7:30 am.

The 5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk & Roll will begin promptly at 8:30 am.

The 5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk & Roll concludes at approximately 9:45 am. 

At approximately 9:45 am, 5K Runners placing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd across divisions will be announced, followed by winners of the random prize drawings.

Public transportation is highly encouraged such as the Metrorail and Metrobus as street parking near Freedom Plaza might be limited. The following are only suggestions, so please review a map for your best mode of transportation.

Nearest Metro Stations include Federal Triangle (Blue, Orange, Silver) and Metro Center (Blue, Orange, Red, Silver).
Nearest Metrobus Stop is 14th St NW & Pennsylvania Av NW.
For those that utilize Capital Bikeshare nearest docking stations include 15th St & Pennsylvania Ave NW, 14th & D St NW / John A Wilson Building, and 14th & G St NW.
