The next San Diego Adventure Racing event returns to Ramona for another super beginner-friendly Adventure Race for newbies and families that involves both hiking and biking (mountain bikes or gravel bikes). Navigation will be with the maps provided at the start line, but still no GPS allowed. Compasses encouraged. Two courses will be available:
- 10 and Under (with parental assist) – geocache style (2-4 hours)
- Family / Adults – punched passport style (4-6 hours)
The start line location will be at Ramona Oaks Park, in Ramona, CA. Please register EACH person coming so that we have enough maps, snacks, and kiddo awards.
Timeline
Saturday, Ramona Oaks Park:
- 7:30am: Arrival and drop off bikes
- 8:00am: Adult course start
- 8:30am: Navigation clinic for Children/Family course
- 9:00am: Children's Geocache course starts
- 12:00pm: Lunch available
- 1:00pm: End of all races and Awards
GEAR
- BYOB (Bring Your Own Bike)
- Food and water – 0.5L per person per hour, minimum, and snacks, especially for the kiddos (snacks will also be available at Start/Finish)
- Compass, of any type really – at least to help with coarse direction and not end up too disoriented.
COURSE ESTIMATES
Remember that a majority of the miles are on bike, not on foot:
- Geocache style course: 1-4 miles
- Punch style course: 10-20 miles
All checkpoints are optional.
