Tri 4 Schools Training Teams are after-school programs that focus on both physical activity and emotional learning. Each Training Team prepares together to complete a Tri 4 Schools event. Here is what you can expect:
- Workouts that incorporate both cardio and strength training elements
- Mindfulness activities and discussions
- Each team will host 10-14 practices with run and bike training depending on the team specific location and calendar
- Three swim lessons are included for teams training for a triathlon. Teams training for the Bike + Run may have optional swim lessons depending sponsorship and pool availability.
Practice calendars will vary based on the event the team is training for and the practice location. For the spring season, teams will train for either the Waunakee Kids Triathlon on May 16 or the Sun Prairie on June 13. Waunakee Course Distances:
- Long Course (recommended ages 11-14): Swim 100 yards (4 lengths of the pool), Bike 4.3 miles, Run 1.1 miles
- Medium Course (recommended ages 7-10): Swim 50 yards (2 lengths of the pool), Bike 2.1 miles, Run 0.6 mile
- Intermediate Course (recommended ages 7-10): Swim 25 yards (one width of the pool), Bike 2.1 miles, Run 0.6 mile
- Short Course (recommended ages 3-6): Swim 25 yards (one width of the pool), Bike 0.45 mile, Run 0.08 mile
Sun Prairie Course Distances:
- Long Course (recommended ages 11-14): Swim 100 yards (4 lengths of the pool), Bike approximately 4.4 miles, Run approximately 1 mile
- Medium Course (recommended ages 7-10): Swim 50 yards (2 lengths of the pool), Bike approximately 2.6 miles, Run approximately 0.5 mile
- Intermediate Course (recommended ages 7-10): Swim 25 yards (1 length of the pool), Bike approximately 2.6 miles, Run approximately 0.5 mile
- Short Course (recommended ages 3-6): Swim 25 yards, Bike approximately 0.5 mile, Run approximately 0.2 mile
- Bike + Run (no swim, recommended ages 7 and up): Bike approximately 2.6 miles, Run approximately 0.5 mile
