Geaux Bald 5k & 10k

Geaux Bald 5K & 10K is a student-led charity race organized by second-year medical students at LSU Health Shreveport to support local cancer patients and their families. Founded in 2011, Geaux Bald raises funds to ease the financial and logistical burdens faced by patients undergoing cancer treatment. Proceeds from this race directly support the restoration of the McDade House, a hospitality home that will provide low- or no-cost lodging for patients receiving care at the Feist-Weiller Cancer Center. Nearly half of Feist-Weiller patients travel over 20 miles for treatment, often requiring multi-day stays close to the hospital. By providing a safe, home-like environment, the McDade House allows patients to focus on healing rather than housing. In the 2024–2025 year alone, Geaux Bald raised over $50,000 toward this mission. Entry Fees:

5k $25.00 through February 8th

$30.00 February 9th through race day

10k $30.00 through February 8th

$35.00 February 9th through race day

**You need to register by February 18th in order to guarantee your shirt size. 

 Packet Pick-Up: 

Packet pick-up will be at Sportspectrum, 6970 Fern Avenue, Shreveport

Thursday February 26th from 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.,

Friday February 27th 10:00-5:30 p.m.

Race packets will also be available at the race site @ 7:00 a.m. the day of the race. 

Phantom Runner: If you would like to support Geaux Bald, but are unable to attend the race, you can register as a Phantom Runner. You will receive a t-shirt, you just don’t have to get out of bed and run!

Awards:  Awards will be presented to the overall male and female winners and runners-up in both the 5k & 10k. Additionally, 1- and 2- place male and female in the following age groups win an award: 19-under, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69, 70+     as well as an award for the largest team.
