On Saturday, May 16, 2026, Sound Community Services, Inc. will be hosting their Annual 5K Run/Walk- “End the Stigma: Mental Health Awareness.” Sound Community Services, Inc. has a mission statement “To inspire Hope by Empowering our Diverse community to find Healing and Growth.” More than 1 in 5 U.S. adults live with a mental illness. Over 1 in 5 youth (ages 13-18) have a seriously debilitating mental illness. It is our commitment to the community to raise awareness in hopes of breaking down barriers in asking for help. Studies have shown that regular exercise can significantly increase mental health stability and symptom improvement.
