In keeping with the tradition of honoring the life and legacy of the father of American long-distance running, Theodore 'Ted' Corbitt, Black Men Run NYC/The NYC Way will continue to honor Ted Corbitt's birthday with our yearly 50K Tribute Run.
Price includes medals, shirt, and participation option. TC50K medals and shirts will be received after ALL finishers in person and virtual have submitted/uploaded their completion of the 50K and shipped within 1-3 weeks.
To recap: To mark the birth anniversary of Ted Corbitt (Saturday, Jan 31), we embarked on an ultra-marathon to 'Ted Corbitt Way' in the Bronx – the 50K being the most appropriate distance since this was known to be a regular training run for him during his lifetime. As we move into 2026, We will continue the annual tradition on Sunday January 25, 2026
Start times
4am – Runners that will take 7-8 hours or more to complete the 50K
5am – Runners that will take 6-7 hours or more to complete the 50K
6am – Runners that will take 5-6 hours or more to complete the 50K
Bag Check is offered at the Start and transferred to the finish
It's BMR's ongoing tradition to aid in the preservation of Ted Corbitt's legacy, especially in run history. We hope that you will join.
Virtual Option to run 50K can be run in any or consecutive days between January 18th to January 25th 2026.
The In-person race will be taking place on January 26. For those running virtually, we will have an option if you are in the New York City area, where you can run the last 10 miles of the course the day of.
Virtual runners will be given a window of January 20th through the end of day January 26th to run and log their miles. You do not need to send us your miles each day, you can send us your total mileage via email to blkmenrunnyc@gmail.com equaling 31 miles by end of day Sunday January 26.

Please note, in the case of inclement weather or construction the 31 mile course may change or vary.
DISCLAIMER: For runners that are not able to participate on race day or not able to log mileage between the specified dates you will not receive a medal nor do we offer a deferred option to the following year.
