The Stanly County Family YMCA and Pfeiffer University are proud to present a Colorful Cancer Awareness 5k/Fun Run/Walk on Friday, October 10th, 2025. Participants will have the opportunity to participate in a competitive 5k, or a one mile Fun Run/Walk on Pfeiffer University's scenic cross-country course around the lake. This event is to honor cancer fighters, survivors, those who have passed, and their families/friends. There is no fee for this event, but donations will be accepted to benefit the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program, a cancer rehab program for cancer patients. If you wish to register for a t-shirt, there will be an add on fee of $15.00. We will meet starting at Pfeiffer University behind Merner Gym at 5:30pm on race day.
We ask that you wear a color of a cancer you wish to support, or dress colorful to represent all cancers! Here are a few examples of cancer ribbon colors:
Pink Ribbon – Breast Cancer
Gray Ribbon – Brain Cancer
Purple Ribbon – Pancreatic Cancer
Orange Ribbon – Kidney Cancer
White Ribbon – Lung Cancer
Navy Ribbon – Colon Cancer
Black Ribbon – Melanoma
Lime Green Ribbon – Lymphoma
Yellow Ribbon – Bone Cancer or our LIVESTRONG program.
