Join area youth runners of all ages for the 33rd Annual Dr. John A. Stephenson Memorial Youth Run presented by the Lynchburg Road Runners. Dr. Stephenson was one of the founding pediatricians of Richeson Drive Pediatrics. Now Lynchburg Pediatrics. He promoted healthy children and being active outside. When he died at a young age a memorial race was started to honor his passion for promoting healthy lifestyles.
Please note that the 1-Miler will be divided based on age and gender groups to ensure fair competition. We’ll have four waves: Female 8–9, Male 8–9, Male and Female 10–11, and Male 12–13. The top three in each age group will win award as well at the top three overall for the mile.
PACKET PICK UP:
Fri. Oct. 10th at Riverside Runners (2480 Rivermont Avenue, Lynchburg, VA 24503), 12-6PM
Sat. Oct. 11th (RACE DAY) 8-8:30AM, Riverside Park.
ENTRY LIMIT:
50 participants per gender per age group.
T-SHIRTS:
T-shirts are available for an additional charge of $10.00 to those registered by Monday, September 29, 2025. After this date, shirts will not be available to order.
Race distances & age groups:
3 & under 1/8th mile,
4-5 yrs old 1/4 mile,
6-7 yrs. old 1/2 mile,
8-13 yrs. old 1 mile.
All events take place at Riverside Park, Rivermont Ave., Lynchburg, Virginia. Proceeds benefit the Lynchburg Road Runners Club a 501c3 non-profit whose mission remains to promote community health and wellness through the sport of running.

Gently rolling courses (closed to traffic) winding through historic, Riverside Park (2270 Rivermont Avenue, Lynchburg, VA 24503).
Lynchburg Road Runners Club Member Discount:
A $1.00 discount is available to current Lynchburg Road Runners Club members. Discounts will not be given after Monday September 30th. Participant membership must be current with the LRRC membership roster found on RunSignUp on race day. Discount will be given at checkout automatically. Refunds and discounts will not be given after completing online race registration.
AWARDS:
All Finishers receive a commemorative "FINISHER AWARD"
Top 3 overall boys and girls for the 1 mile distance (all races combined) and the top 3 boys and girls in each race.
AGE GROUPS: (boys & girls): 3-under (1/8 mi); 4-5 (1/4 mi); 6-7 (1/2 mi); 8-9 (1 mi); 10-11 (1 mi); 12-13 (1 mi)
PARKING: Riverside Park, closed to ALL vehicular traffic (9AM to 10:45AM). Please park on Rivermont Ave.
